Update to Business in Response to Covid-19

During the current Coronavirus pandemic, business cannot continue as normal, however I would like to assure all clients, both current and future, that I will continue to operate, albeit in a modified manner, ensuring safe social distancing.

Planning and building control departments are still functioning, although with changes to comply with the guidelines, so that applications can be determined, builders can quote and work can commence when normal life resumes.

The majority of my work is always carried out at home. In normal times I make an initial site visit to view the property and discuss the client proposals before providing a written quotation and then making a second visit to carry out a measured survey.

During the present “lock down” My suggestion is that potential clients initially e-mail me a description of the work that they wish to carry out together with their address and photographs of the part or parts of their property that they wish to alter. I can then follow this up with a telephone conversation which will normally give me enough information to provide an opinion as to whether the proposal will require planning permission and if so whether planning approval is likely to be given.

I will then provide a quotation for preparing and submitting the necessary plans for approval.

Once a quote has been accepted it will be necessary to make a site visit to carry out a measured survey.

I would only make a visit if, as is the case at present, I and my family are not exhibiting any symptoms of Covid-19 and that similarly the occupants of the house that I am visiting are symptom free.

On arrival I would wash my hands before continuing with the survey whilst maintaining a minimum of two metres distancing at all times.

If client’s prefer I can provide a quote for the proposed alterations and then wait until life returns to normal before carrying out any survey.

I would like to assure all clients waiting for their drawings, that I am continuing to work as usual and they will receive their drawings on time. In the meantime, I wish all my current and future clients good health and look forward to hearing from them if they have any queries.
